With only 7 hectares, Clos La Bohème is a very small Cru Bourgeois, located on the gravelly soils of Ludon-Médoc, near Margaux. A pioneer of organic farming in the Médoc, it is led by Christine Nadalié: controlled yields, manual harvesting, and aging in barrels from the family cooperage.
The 2019 vintage is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. Vinification takes place in wooden and concrete vats, with a long 4-week maceration. The wine is then aged for 20 months on fine lees in barrels and casks made by the Nadalié cooperage. 13,000 bottles were produced.
It received gold at the Vignerons Indépendants de France 2022, Féminalise 2022, and the Challenge Millésime Bio 2023. Open now after decanting, or leave to age in the cellar.
France
The Bordeaux region is hardly a secret, as it is one of the great wine regions of France. Bordeaux has a temperate maritime climate that yields fabulous, high quality red wines. The main red grapes of the region are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Although 90% of its production is red, the region rounds out its range with white wines blended from Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc.
