Domaine Nico Histoire d'A Pinot Noir 2023 comes from the Gualtallary vineyard in Tupungato, at an altitude of 1,350 meters, from a 1.75-hectare plot planted in 1998 (Dijon clone 115). Aged for 12 months in 10% first-use, 20% second-use, and 70% third-use barrels, 100% François Frères. 40% whole clusters. Limited production of 6,632 bottles. Alcohol 13.2%, pH 3.41, TA 5.9. Domaine Nico is an artisanal Pinot Noir project established in Tupungato, in the Uco Valley, Mendoza. The vines, planted between 1993 and 2013 across high-altitude terroirs ranging from 1,120 to 1,450 meters, express the freshness and precision of limestone soils. Limited production and a non-interventionist approach, aged exclusively in François Frères French oak barrels.
On the nose, notes of red fruits, spices, and a herbal character of thyme. Medium to high acidity, slightly mineral, vertical profile, and well-integrated oak. It pairs well with guinea fowl with mushrooms or delicate gastronomic dishes. Aging potential of 8 to 12 years.
Argentina
Mendoza is the largest wine-producing region in Argentina. Located on a high plateau on the edge of the Andes, the province is responsible for approximately 70% of the country's annual wine production. The French grape variety Malbec has its New World home in the vineyards of Mendoza, producing red wines of great concentration and intensity. While Malbec is undoubtedly the star of the region, there are also numerous plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Syrah, Torrontes and Sauvignon Blanc.
