DESCRIPTION
El Esteco Don David Reserve Malbec 2023 pays tribute to the estate's founder, a pioneer of quality viticulture in the high-altitude vineyards of the Calchaquí Valleys. Sourced from Malbec cultivated at over 1,800 meters, this wine expresses the sunny yet fresh character of this extreme terroir. The grapes are hand-harvested and then vinified with a cold pre-fermentation maceration, using indigenous and selected yeasts, with a total maceration of about 30 days. The 12-month aging process combines 70% in used French oak barrels and 30% in stainless steel tanks.
The nose is intense, featuring notes of plum jam, raisin, tobacco, chocolate, and well-integrated oak. The palate is ample, supple, and elegant, carried by soft tannins, with a long and harmonious finish. Superb with a duck breast with plums or an Argentine barbecue. Aging potential of 5 years and more.

Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Tannat thrive here, delivering powerful expressions marked by concentrated fruit, bright acidity, and aromas of flowers, spices, and warm stone. Winemakers are also reviving heritage varieties such as Criolla Chica, introduced by Spanish settlers in the 16th century. Hardy and well-suited to high altitudes, Criolla produces light, vibrant wines with floral notes and refreshing acidity.
