Holdvölgy Eloquence Tokaji Szamorodni 2013 is Holdvölgy's most expressive sweet Szamorodni, crafted from late-harvest botrytized Furmint and Hárslevelű grapes. This sweet Szamorodni offers a texture that is both creamy and backed by a vibrant acidity. Residual sugar 104 g/L. Aged for 18 months in barrels. Founded in 2004 by Pascal Demko, the Holdvölgy estate spans 28 hectares spread across seven crus of Mád, in the heart of Tokaj. Renowned for its commitment to excellence, it offers a diverse range extending from vibrant dry wines to exceptional sweet wines, highlighting the richness of volcanic soils. The aging cellar dates back to the 14th century and is one of the longest in the region. The estate also offers a modern and accessible range, 'Hold and Hollo', which captivates with its young, fresh, and dynamic style.
On the nose, it displays a golden yellow color with an expressive first note dominated by plum, cloves, and watermelon. On the palate, rich and reflecting aromas of apricot jam and honey, with an elegant finish and a deliciously refreshing acidity. It pairs perfectly with foie gras or apricot-based desserts. Serve between 10 and 12°C. Cellaring potential of 20 years and more.
Hungary
The Tokaj wine region is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site and
is only a 2h30 drive north-east of Budapest in Hungary.
This is the land of milk and honey for viticulture. A microclimate, a volcanic soil, and a little mushroom called botrytis, also known as “noble rot” all contribute to making Tokaj a fruitful location. The noble rot shrivels the ripe grapes, thus creating Aszú, the famous sweet wines of the region. These wines, filled to the brim with sweet and concentrated aromas, are the flagship product of Tokaj. In addition to Aszú, Furmint Dry and Tokaji Eszencia are also a must-try.

This oxidative Szamorodni with notes of walnut and caramel is like a Sherry, but Hungarian.
