Kanonkop Estate Black Label Pinotage 2020 is produced from one of the oldest Pinotage vineyards in South Africa, from bush vines planted in 1953. Aged for 18 months in 100% new 225L French oak barrels, it features 14.5% alcohol and 3.1 g/L of residual sugar. This exceptional wine benefits from a pH of 4.01 and a total acidity of 4.7 g/L.
On the nose, spicy, floral, and black fruit notes. A rich and enveloping texture is accompanied by velvety tannins that give the wine remarkable complexity and power. Pairs beautifully with a slow-cooked pork belly or barbecue beef skewers.
South Africa
Stellenbosch is undoubtedly South Africa’s most prestigious wine region. Located in the coastal region of the Western Cape, east of Cape Town, it enjoys a Mediterranean climate tempered by sea breezes and sheltered by surrounding mountains. Its varied terroir – granite, shale, and sandy soils – allows for the production of both powerful red wines and elegant whites.
While Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-style blends (with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot) have built its reputation, Stellenbosch is also renowned for its refined Chenin Blancs, distinctive Chardonnays, and expressive Syrahs. Home to many iconic estates, this appellation remains a showcase of South African winemaking expertise.
