Maury Tuilé Vieille Reserve 1999, Vignerons de Maury
Maury Tuilé Vieille Reserve 1999, Vignerons de Maury
History
Since 1910, the Vignerons de Maury cooperative has preserved the tradition of Vins Doux Naturels in the Agly Valley. Rooted in black schist soils swept by the Tramontane wind, its 200 winemakers craft iconic cuvées, including the Vieilles Réserves, true witnesses of time. The 1999 vintage, marked by a year of excellent ripeness, perfectly illustrates the richness and longevity of the appellation.
Vinification
This Maury Traditionnel was produced using the ancestral method: grapes harvested at full ripeness, long maceration on the skins to extract color and body, followed by mutage with grape spirit to preserve the natural sugars. Extended oxidative aging in old casks and barrels developed a complex bouquet dominated by the famed rancio, the signature of great aged Maury wines.
Tasting Notes
Its deep tawny color announces an intense nose of candied black fruits, cocoa, dried fig, walnut, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is broad and warm, combining fruit sweetness with elegant freshness, and a persistent finish of coffee and noble rancio. Ideal with dark chocolate fondant, dried fruit tart, or paired with aged blue cheese. Serve slightly chilled (12–14 °C).
