History
Founded in 1910 in the heart of the Agly Valley, the Vignerons de Maury cooperative has embodied the soul of Vins Doux Naturels for over a century. Bringing together nearly 200 winemakers, it relies on black schist soils and expertise passed down through generations. With its collection of Vieilles Réserves, the cellar has become a true benchmark of the Maury appellation, especially for lovers of rare vintages. The 2001 vintage, generally balanced across Roussillon, expresses remarkable depth after more than twenty years of maturation.
Vinification
Made mainly from Grenache Noir harvested at optimal ripeness, this wine follows the traditional VDN method: long maceration on the skins to extract color and body, followed by mutage with grape spirit to preserve some of the natural sugars. Oxidative aging in old casks and barrels lasted many years, developing complex rancio aromas and a silky texture.
Tasting Notes
The deep tawny robe announces a rich and refined nose, combining candied fruits, cocoa, roasted coffee, and toasted walnuts. On the palate, it is broad and velvety, balanced between sweetness and freshness, with a persistent finish featuring notes of fig, prune, and gentle spices. A contemplative wine, perfect with aged Roquefort, a walnut tart, or an intense chocolate dessert. Serve at 12–14 °C, decant if possible, and it can be kept for several weeks after opening.

Aux côtés de ce cépage roi, les Grenache gris et Grenache blanc complètent l’encépagement. Ce décor minéral et lumineux donne naissance à des vins doux naturels puissants et expressifs, rouges dans leur grande majorité, mais aussi ambrés ou tuilés.Maury se décline en plusieurs styles. Le Maury Grenat (ou jeune) exprime la gourmandise du fruit, avec des notes intenses de cerise et de mûre. Les Maury Traditionnels et Vieux Maury sont élevés de façon oxydative, révélant des arômes de cacao, de figue, de café et de rancio élégant. Les vieux millésimes, parfois conservés des décennies en fût, sont particulièrement recherchés : ils allient profondeur, complexité et une étonnante fraîcheur qui défie le temps.
