History
Founded in 1910 in the heart of the village of Maury, in the Agly Valley, the Vignerons de Maury cooperative is one of the historical pillars of the appellation. With 200 members, it preserves an ancestral expertise in natural sweet wines, with a particular mastery of Vieilles Réserves. The black schist terroir, typical of Roussillon, provides Grenache with the perfect environment to produce powerful, complex wines with great longevity. This 2004 vintage, particularly well-balanced, perfectly illustrates the tradition and excellence of the estate.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and vinified according to the traditional Vins Doux Naturels method. After a long maceration on the skins, fermentation is halted by mutage with neutral grape spirit, preserving the natural sugars. The wine is then aged oxidatively in old casks and barrels. This patient aging develops a noble rancio with aromas of dried fruits, coffee, and spices.
Tasting Notes
Its deep tawny color announces a wine of character. The nose captivates with intensity: candied morello cherries, blackberries, prunes, cocoa, coffee, with hints of hazelnut and walnut. On the palate, the broad, silky attack is balanced by a fresh and elegant structure, leading to a long, warm, and persistent finish. Excellent with dark chocolate desserts, coffee-caramel entremets, or dried fruit tarts; also pairs beautifully with aged Comté, Roquefort, roasted duck, or game birds. Serve between 12 and 14 °C.

Ce décor minéral et lumineux donne naissance à des vins doux naturels puissants et expressifs, rouges dans leur grande majorité, mais aussi ambrés ou tuilés.Maury se décline en plusieurs styles. Le Maury Grenat (ou jeune) exprime la gourmandise du fruit, avec des notes intenses de cerise et de mûre. Les Maury Traditionnels et Vieux Maury sont élevés de façon oxydative, révélant des arômes de cacao, de figue, de café et de rancio élégant. Les vieux millésimes, parfois conservés des décennies en fût, sont particulièrement recherchés : ils allient profondeur, complexité et une étonnante fraîcheur qui défie le temps.
