Nanny Goat Vineyard is the brainchild (or vinechild, if you will) of winemaker Alan Peters-Oswald, the Pinot Noir specialist. The name hails from the wild goats that roam the mountainous region of Central Otago, which is the most southerly wine region in the world and on New Zealand’s South Island. Queensberry, the vineyard where this Pinot grows, is quite the special area, and you can taste it. This brooding bevvy is brimming with mixed berries. Floral perfumes of rose and violet are delicately added to the mix, along with toasted brown spice, dried herbs and black plum. This Pinot Noir is an extraordinary balancing act of acidity, tannins and fruitiness. The perfect partner in crime for a roasted rack of lamb served with thyme and salsa verde.
