Parker Coonawarra Estate First Growth 2019 is the estate's flagship wine, embodying the excellence of Coonawarra in South Australia. Produced only during exceptional vintages to guarantee an extended aging potential, this cuvée comes from the Abbey Estate vineyard. The vines are planted on the legendary "terra rossa" soil over limestone and originate from Cabernet Sauvignon massal selections of the Reynella series (sourced from Bordeaux prior to phylloxera). The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 80% of which are new. It features 14.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.37, and a total acidity of 5.9 g/L.
On the nose, it reveals a complex and alluring bouquet of cassis, dark chocolate, black fruits, and nuances of cigar box, all accompanied by notes of garrigue and earth. On the palate, this wine of character proves to be dense, deep, and elegant. It expresses both power and refinement, supported by fine tannins, offering a long, structured, and perfectly harmonious finish.
Ideal to accompany a filet mignon with wild mushrooms or a coq au vin. Its exceptional aging potential is 20 years and beyond.
