Quinta da Romaneira Vintage Port 2019 comes from a vintage marked by a dry and sunny summer with slightly cooler than usual temperatures, allowing the vines to cope with the lack of rain and produce grapes of remarkable health. A blend of 70% Touriga Nacional, 27% Touriga Franca and 3% Sousao, fermented at 28°C in stainless steel lagares, aged 20 months in oak vats. In the heart of the Douro Valley, Quinta da Romaneira embodies history and viticultural excellence. Already celebrated in the 19th century, this iconic estate entered a new era in 2004 thanks to a group of passionate investors, including Christian Seely, director of the Axa Millésimes properties including the renowned Quinta do Noval. Under the visionary direction of Seely and Antonio Agrellos, one of Portugal's most award-winning winemakers, the property has regained its former glory. Its 85 hectares of terraced vineyards on schist soils reveal the finest red grape varieties of the Douro, with Touriga Nacional covering nearly 40% of the vineyard.
On the nose, this 2019 is seductive, charming and very expressive, with great depth and ageing potential. Deep dark ruby-purple colour with intense aromatic personality, multiple spices, wild berries and violets. Great elegance, pure fruit flavours, fleshy velvety tannins and a very long finish. It pairs with slow-cooked red meats or aged cheeses. Ageing potential of 20 to 30 years.
