Quinta da Romaneira Vintage Port 2020 is a Vintage Port from terraced schist-soil vineyards in the Douro, blending 60% Touriga Nacional, 34% Touriga Franca and 6% Sousao. The grapes are foot-trodden and by robotic plungers in stainless steel lagares, fermented with temperature control at 28°C. Aged 20 months in oak vats, then destined for 15 to 20 years of bottle ageing. In the heart of the Douro Valley, Quinta da Romaneira embodies history and viticultural excellence. Already celebrated in the 19th century, this iconic estate entered a new era in 2004 thanks to a group of passionate investors, including Christian Seely, director of the Axa Millésimes properties including the renowned Quinta do Noval. Under the visionary direction of Seely and Antonio Agrellos, one of Portugal's most award-winning winemakers, the property has regained its former glory. Its 85 hectares of terraced vineyards on schist soils reveal the finest red grape varieties of the Douro, with Touriga Nacional covering nearly 40% of the vineyard.
On the nose, ripe black fruits, chocolate and spiced notes, complemented by a subtle woody touch. On the palate, this Port is rich and powerful, with beautiful fruit concentration, fine tannins and a long persistent finish. It pairs with blue cheeses such as Roquefort or Stilton, and dark chocolate desserts. Serve at 9°C. Ageing potential of 30 years and more.
