Stark-Condé Three Pines Syrah 2018 is a wonderfully expressive Syrah from the Three Pines vineyard in the Jonkershoek Valley (Stellenbosch), cultivated at high altitudes on soils of decomposed granite and clay. All grapes were hand-harvested, sorted, and fermented in tanks, and then aged for 20 months in French oak barrels (15% new). It features 14% alcohol and 2.0 g/L of residual sugar.
On the nose, black berries, pepper, and toasted notes. On the palate, powerful and harmonious with a remarkably lingering finish. Pairs beautifully with a game terrine or a grilled prime rib of beef. Aging potential of 15 years and more.
South Africa
Stellenbosch is undoubtedly South Africa’s most prestigious wine region. Located in the coastal region of the Western Cape, east of Cape Town, it enjoys a Mediterranean climate tempered by sea breezes and sheltered by surrounding mountains. Its varied terroir – granite, shale, and sandy soils – allows for the production of both powerful red wines and elegant whites.
While Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-style blends (with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot) have built its reputation, Stellenbosch is also renowned for its refined Chenin Blancs, distinctive Chardonnays, and expressive Syrahs. Home to many iconic estates, this appellation remains a showcase of South African winemaking expertise.
