DESCRIPTION
Nanny Goat Vineyard is the brainchild (or vinechild, if you will) of winemaker Alan Peters-Oswald, the Pinot Noir specialist. The name hails from the wild goats that roam the mountainous region of Central Otago, which is the most southerly wine region in the world and on New Zealand’s South Island. This Pinot Noir is mouth-wateringly aromatic. Its earthiness is highlighted by notes of red and black berries, toasted cooking spices, and lifted floral notes. Lest we forget the palate, which moonlights as a coffee shop with its roasted beans, sweet baking spices, cherries and plums. This pinot packs a final punch with its fine, powdery tannins, acidic streak, and long finish. A mushroom risotto, lasagna or a hearty steak are all that’s missing.

Vineyards cling to the sides of mountains and high above river gorges in this dramatic landscape. Pinot Noir has proven itself in this challenging terroir, and takes up nearly three-quarters of the region's vineyard area. The typical Central Otago Pinot Noir is intense and deeply colored, with flavors of doris plum, sweet spice and bramble.
