Rockford Basket Press Shiraz 2018 is a true legend of the Barossa Valley, praised by critics (95 points from Halliday) and beloved by wine lovers (4.5★ on Vivino). This wine comes from old vines aged between 60 and 140 years, carefully tended by some of the region’s best growers. Every step in its making reflects a deep respect for tradition: hand harvesting, pressing in an old wooden basket press, open-top fermentation, and two years of aging in a mix of French and American oak barrels.
The result is a deep and refined red wine, with a generous nose of dark fruit, vanilla, leather, and sweet spices. The palate is full-bodied and silky, with smooth tannins and a long finish of dark chocolate and candied fruit. Perfect with grilled ribeye, lamb tagine, roast with sauce, or homemade lasagna.
At Vinodelice, we love it for its authenticity, elegance, and the way it captures the soul of Barossa in a single glass. A rare, handcrafted wine to enjoy now or over the next 10 years.
Australia
The Barossa Valley is one of Australia’s most prestigious wine regions. Known for its century-old vines, it produces some of the country’s finest red wines—powerful, concentrated Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grenache. This iconic terroir is also home to a unique style of unoaked Semillon: crisp, vibrant, and citrusy. If you're looking for a great Australian wine, Barossa is always a safe bet.
Liz - Local Nose
I was impressed by the depth of this Shiraz. Silky tannins and a persistent finish.
