This Alsace Riesling is the expression of a mosaic of terroirs, drawing its character from the region's historic hillsides. It is notably sourced from a plot on the Grand Cru Praelatenberg and a selection of the best plots on the Route Romaine. Anchored in a soil of granitic and stony origin, the estate's 50-year-old vines bring a distinct mineral dimension and a beautiful freshness, characteristic of the Frères Engel style.
Faithful to a demanding environmental approach, the estate practices biodynamics (Demeter certified), ensuring a viticulture that respects the natural balance of the plant. The vinification is managed to preserve the precision and purity of the Riesling: after a long pressing (6 to 8h) of the whole grapes, the wine is aged for 11 months in stainless steel tanks on fine lees. This process allows a perfectly dry and elegant profile to be achieved (1.4 g/l of residual sugar).
This wine reveals itself to be dry, fresh, and racy. The brilliant yellow gold color opens onto an expressive nose of white fruits, yellow fruits, and candied citrus (lemon). On the palate, the balance is remarkable: rich and well-supported by a ripe acidity. It is the wine of gastronomy par excellence, perfect with fish in butter sauce, scallops, or Alsatian specialties like choucroute.
