Bodega Del Desierto

In the vast arid expanses of Argentine Patagonia, where nature reigns supreme, lies an unexpected treasure: Bodega del Desierto. This wine estate, located in the province of La Pampa, is striking proof that passion, innovation and resilience can transform hostile lands into a paradise for vines.

The history of Bodega del Desierto

Founded in 2001, Bodega del Desierto is the work of visionaries who believed in the unique potential of Patagonia to produce exceptional wines. Inspired by the wild landscape and the challenge of growing vines in a desert region, the creators of the estate wanted to push the limits of traditional viticulture in Argentina.

The name of the estate, which literally means "the cellar of the desert", refers to the location of the vineyard in one of the driest regions of the country. However, this apparent aridity hides an ideal ecosystem for growing vines, thanks to poor but well-drained soils, abundant sunshine and cool nights which preserve the acidity of the grapes.

A singular terroir and optimal conditions

Bodega del Desierto is located at 39° south latitude, in the Alto Valle del Río Colorado region, a unique location that offers exceptional climatic conditions. Low humidity and absence of fungal diseases promote sustainable agriculture, reducing the need for chemical treatments.

The soils are mainly composed of sand and silt, with good drainage capacity. This natural poverty forces the vines to dive deep to draw in the necessary nutrients, resulting in concentrated, aroma-rich grapes.

In addition, the constant winds that sweep through the region aerate the vines, strengthening their resistance and adding an extra dimension to the typicity of the wines.

Exceptional grape varieties and wines

Bodega del Desierto cultivates a wide range of grape varieties, but the most emblematic are Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, which perfectly express the unique character of the Patagonian terroir.

Desierto 25

The “Desierto 25” range, named in homage to the National Route 25 which crosses La Pampa, is a collection of young and accessible wines, perfect for daily consumption. There are fresh notes of red fruits for the Malbec and a beautiful minerality for the Chardonnay.

Desierto Pampa

The “Desierto Pampa” range highlights more complex and structured wines. Reds, like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, offer exceptional depth, with aromas of dark fruits, spices and a touch of vanilla from aging in oak barrels.

Desierto Extra Brut

For lovers of bubbles, the estate also produces an elegant and refreshing sparkling wine, made using the traditional method, with a dominance of Chardonnay.

An internationally acclaimed domain

Despite its relative youth, Bodega del Desierto has quickly established itself on the international scene. Its wines have received numerous distinctions at prestigious competitions, notably at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and the Decanter World Wine Awards.

Experts praise the finesse, complexity and balance of the estate's wines, which succeed in combining the characteristic power of Argentine wines with an elegance specific to Patagonia.
