DESCRIPTION
Hewitson is not your average winemaker. Dean Hewitson, aka the ‘Mad Hatter,’ makes extraordinary wine, some from extraordinarily old vines that date back to 1853 (P.P. - pre-phylloxera). Ned & Henry is the result of a challenge. Dean’s friend dared him to make a traditional, full-bodied Barossa valley shiraz but one that you can drink young, at lunch or dinner with friends. Challenge accepted. Ned & Henry is easily drinkable, thanks to its fine tannins and sweet, ripe fruit notes of blackberry and cherry. The French oak ageing adds to the wine some texture and spice. A great wine to pair with lasagna, pasta bolognese or lamb skewers with herbes de provence.

I really like this wine, first for its grape variety, which offers lovely spices and nice roundness with lots of expression. It’s exactly the style of wine I appreciate: lightly oaked, sunny, and ripe. It would pair perfectly with grilled meat.
