DESCRIPTION

Hewitson is not your average winemaker. Dean Hewitson, aka the ‘Mad Hatter,’ makes extraordinary wine, some from extraordinarily old vines that date back to 1853 (P.P. - pre-phylloxera). This Riesling is grown in Eden Valley, a well-known area in Australia for this variety. The Gun Metal does not need to pull out the big guns, it speaks for itself. This wine boasts a lovely dry minerality, but it’s the lime that gives it its kick. The Gun Metal is the perfect partner for a branzino, salmon, or sauerkraut.

Eden Valley lies within the Barossa region and is recognised as one of the great Riesling regions of the world and one of Australia's first cool climate wine regions. Eden Valley wines stand out for their character, wonderful aromas, elegance, complexity and finesse. With a winemaking history dating back to 1847, Eden Valley is home to some of the oldest Shiraz and Riesling vineyards in the world. Traditional grape growing continues with a focus on sustainability, as the fifth and sixth generations of the first settlers keep farming their family vineyards.
