In Berson, in the heart of the Blayais region, Vignobles Rodriguez & Co cultivate Château Pinet La Roquette using organic farming methods on clay and limestone soils.
L'Esprit N°1 is a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Malbec. It is vinified using cold maceration, indigenous yeasts, and gentle extraction, then aged for 15 months in oak barrels with minimal added sulfites. Only 5,000 bottles are produced annually.
The color is vivid and intense, with a nose marked by dark fruits. On the palate, the attack is bold and powerful, lifted by pepper and spices, with a fine tannic structure and a complex finish. James Suckling awarded it 90/100.

The Bordeaux region is hardly a secret, as it is one of the great wine regions of France. Bordeaux has a temperate maritime climate that yields fabulous, high quality red wines. The main red grapes of the region are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Although 90% of its production is red, the region rounds out its range with white wines blended from Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc.
