Cognac Lheraud Fins Bois 1982
DESCRIPTION
The Story
Since 1810, Maison Lhéraud has crafted vintage cognacs of rare finesse, faithful to the Charentais tradition. Established in Angeac, in the heart of the Fins Bois, it perpetuates ancestral expertise passed down from generation to generation. This 1982 vintage, sourced from the Fins Bois cru, testifies to a masterful balance between aromatic richness and elegance, the fruit of half a century of patience and mastery.
The Vinification
Distilled in 1982, this Fins Bois Cognac has aged in Limousin oak barrels, with no additives or reduction. The clay-limestone soils and the temperate climate of the Fins Bois confer roundness and smoothness on the eaux-de-vie (spirits). The aging in wood has allowed notes of spices, cocoa, and vanilla to develop, in a harmonious and silky texture.
The Tasting
On the nose, spicy and cocoa notes open up, complemented by delicate touches of vanilla and dark chocolate. On the palate, the cognac captivates with its roundness, balance, and controlled power. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, offering a refined tasting experience true to the Lhéraud expertise.
REGION
Nouvelle Aquitaine
France
Nouvelle-Aquitaine is the largest wine region in France, stretching from Poitiers to Pau through iconic areas such as Bordeaux, Cognac, Agen and Bergerac. It holds an exceptional diversity of terroirs, backed by centuries of winemaking and distilling know how, making it the birthplace of some of the most renowned spirits in the world.
In the north, in Charente and Charente Maritime, they make the famous Cognac, double distilled from white wines, and Pineau des Charentes, a fortified wine blending grape must and young cognac, loved for its freshness and roundness.
Further south, in the Gers, the Landes and Lot et Garonne, they produce Armagnac, the oldest brandy in France. Traditionally distilled in a continuous still, it comes from three areas: Haut Armagnac, Ténarèze and Bas Armagnac. These three terroirs sit on the Lannemezan alluvial fan, an ancient soil of sand, clay and pebbles from the erosion of the Pyrenees. They give expressive, elegant and nuanced brandies, with aromas of ripe fruit, sweet spice and dried fruit, revealed as they age in cask.
