Cafayate is a wine region in northwest Argentina, set in the Calchaquí Valley, one of the highest places in the world suited to growing vines. The valley surrounds Cafayate and holds some of the most spectacular landscapes in Argentina, shifting quickly and dramatically from desert to mountains to a subtropical climate. The terroir is especially suited to Torrontés Riojano, but wines made from Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon are also produced here.
