Domaine Sainte-Marie
History
The Domaine Sainte-Marie, located in the heart of the Côtes de Provence, is much more than just a vineyard. Since 1884, this family estate has been cultivating vines with passion and expertise. With its 45 hectares between the sea and mountains, the estate offers an incredible setting for producing fine wine. Today, a passionate team creates authentic wines that celebrate the Provençal terroir while respecting our beautiful planet.
Domaine Sainte-Marie, committed to respecting nature, has chosen a sustainable production approach. They have adopted organic and biodynamic viticulture, with official certifications. Every step of the process emphasizes environmental protection, ensuring healthy, high-quality wines.
Viticulture and Winemaking Approach
By opting for organic and biodynamic viticulture, Domaine Sainte-Marie does everything to reduce its environmental impact while showcasing the Provençal terroir. The soils are nurtured with natural fertilizers and biodynamic preparations, promoting microbial life and the health of the vines. Here, they say goodbye to chemical pesticides and herbicides in favor of natural methods to protect their precious plants.
For winemaking, the estate relies on manual harvesting, which allows for selecting the ripest grapes while respecting the rhythm of the vines. And as the cherry on top: their wines are vegan, appealing to customers who are mindful of making ethical choices.
Terroir and Cultivated Grapes
The Provençal terroir of Domaine Sainte-Marie is a key element in the exceptional quality of its wines. Located just a few kilometers from the Mediterranean, the estate benefits from a sunny climate and clay-limestone soils that give the grapes a natural freshness and beautiful complexity. This unique terroir allows for the production of wines typical of the region, rich in aromas and finesse.
The main grape varieties grown at Domaine Sainte-Marie are those that have made the wines of Provence famous, notably Grenache and Cinsault, two essential grapes for the creation of the renowned Provence rosés.
What truly makes Domaine Sainte-Marie unique is its love for the region’s emblematic grape variety: Tibouren. Rare and precious, this grape is a real treasure for fans of Provençal wines. Primarily used for rosés, Tibouren offers spicy and floral notes that give it a distinct personality. Grown in small quantities, it has become the essential grape for Provence rosés, producing elegant, fresh, and delicately aromatic wines.
Wine Styles and Key Cuvées
The estate stands out for producing fruity wines that are both elegant and expressive, where the balance between freshness and complexity is always present. The rosés, in particular, are at the heart of the production and represent the quintessence of Provençal winemaking art.
Among the estate’s iconic cuvées, the Cuvée Paparazzi holds a special place. This rosé (which you can find on our website) beautifully embodies the elegance and freshness typical of Provence rosés. Made with a blend of Grenache, Cinsault, and Tibouren, it reveals delicate aromas of red fruits and white flowers, all with a lively finish on the palate. Perfect for sunny days, it pairs ideally with light dishes like Mediterranean salads or seafood.
The estate’s other cuvées also reflect the diversity and richness of their terroir. The red wines are marked by notes of black fruits and spices, while the whites offer freshness and minerality reminiscent of the estate’s proximity to the sea.
Domaine Sainte-Marie is a perfect blend of tradition and modernity. With its eco-responsible approach, exceptional terroir, and emblematic grape varieties like Tibouren, it offers high-quality organic and vegan wines that highlight the Côtes de Provence. Whether you're looking to treat yourself or explore more deeply, the estate's wines, especially the Cuvée Paparazzi, will charm lovers of fruity rosé seeking finesse and authenticity.
