Jujuy is the northernmost wine region in Argentina. It is in Uquía, a town in the province of Jujuy, that you will find the highest vineyards in the world, reaching up to 3,329 metres above sea level. It is a very small wine region and so does not produce as much wine for export as its neighbours. A shame, since the wines are powerful and beautifully balanced. The most planted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Merlot. Expect aromas of pepper and blackcurrant, then, with age, notes of forest floor and spice.
