Banyuls Grand Cru 2014 Adrien Cazes

Cuvée Adrien Cazes, Banyuls 'Grand Cru' 2014

🇫🇷 AOP BANYULS | Roussillon  | France
Michel Cazes founded Maison Cazes in 1895. Spearheaded by his grandson André, the domaine started making its own bottles in 1955. As a way to honour the latest generation, now under the helm of Adrien Cazes, the Cazes family released an eight year old natural sweet wine. The Banyuls grand cru is a blend of Grenache Noir (80%) and Grenache gris (20%). The grapes are harvested by hand and then macerated for at least three weeks in order to extract from them the most of their potential. The juice is then aged by traditional microoxygenation in oak barrels for a number of years (one more than the 2015 Banyuls). The bouquet is a subtil symphony of aromas, which reveal themselves over time. Flavours of dried fruit, nuts and prune-based brandy all come together to create a pleasant elixir. This Banyuls is the perfect partner in crime for blue cheeses and aged comté cheese (10/12 months). This wine can also be enjoyed as a digestif with chocolate-covered oranges.
