Viu Manent Viu 1 Malbec 2021 comes from the best Malbec parcels of block 4 within the San Carlos vineyard, planted over 100 years ago. The 2021 vintage, cool and atypical for Colchagua, favored slow ripening, beautiful natural acidity, and silky tannins. Blending 83% Malbec and 17% Cabernet Sauvignon, the grapes are hand-harvested and sorted three times, then aged for 15 months in untoasted French oak foudres (55%) and French barrels (45%). Viu Manent is a family-owned house founded in 1935, renowned for its wines from the Colchagua Valley. The acquisition of its three vineyards in Colchagua in 1960, including San Carlos de Cunaco, the cradle of centenarian Malbec vines, forged the estate's identity. Today managed by the third generation and certified vegan, Viu Manent has been ranked among the World's Best Vineyards for seven consecutive years.
On the nose, a pure and elegant bouquet focused on aromas of redcurrant, black cherry, and violet, complemented by fine herbal notes and sweet spices. On the palate, ample, vibrant, and juicy, with beautiful tension, very silky tannins, and great depth on the finish. It pairs well with lamb chops with herbs or a beef tenderloin with green peppercorn sauce. Serve at 18°C. Aging potential of 10 years and more.
Chili
The Central Valley of Chile is the wine region in South America with the largest volume of wine production. A wide variety of wine styles and qualities can be found in this vast region, from many different terroirs. These range from the fashionable Bordeaux-style wines produced in the northern Maipo, to the older and more established vineyards of Maule; from the coastal plains of western Colchagua to the Andean foothills of Puente Alto.
