A pioneer in the low-intervention field, William Downie has been producing wines for his own label since 2003. A blend of 70% Mornington Peninsula and 30% King Valley Pinot Noir, this vintage is sublimely aromatic and balanced, with typical Pinot fruit aromas of raspberry, cherry and blackcurrant. Dense and dark, notes of spice and earth unroll on the palate with subtle tannins. Juicy, velvety and earthy - this is a shining example of a Victorian Pinot Noir. Think of lamb, duck, roast chicken, roast or pasta dishes for this one.

The Gippsland region is located in the southern part of Australia, to the east of the Melbourne suburbs in the state of Victoria. The total vineyard area covers 187ha and harvests mostly Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz. This region has a number of microclimates, which contribute to the elegance and structure of the various styles of grape cultivated in the area. The white wines are particularly aromatic. Meanwhile, the south of Gippsland Pinot Noir is known throughout Australia as being one of the best on the market. While its attack is fine, there is a length and intensity to it.
