The essence of Mitolo Wines can be traced back centuries through generations of agriculturists and viticulturalists. Hailing from Italy's Abruzzo region, the Mitolo family migrated to Australia in the 1950s with a hardworking ethos and a strong connection to the land. Embodying the motto of Abruzzo – forte e gentile or strong and gentle – Mitolo's proud Italian-Australian heritage is engrained in its endeavour to craft remarkable wines of character and elegance.
From the renowned Sandra's Block in Aldinga, this exceptional Shiraz expresses the full elegance of McLaren Vale. The 31-year-old vines, planted on clay-loam soils near the coast, benefit from sea breezes that preserve freshness and aromatic finesse. Aged 20 months in oak barrels (10% new French, 5% new American), this 2021 vintage reveals vibrant aromas of blue fruits, sweet cherry and plum, with Christmas spice and vanilla notes. The palate offers remarkable silky texture, fine tannins and vibrant acidity for a succulent finish.
