Our Winemakers: From Legends to New Icons

We proudly collaborate with renowned producers like Torbreck, Vasse Felix, Shaw + Smith, and Tyrrell’s, as well as rising artisan stars like Brash Higgins, McHenry Hohnen, Rising, and L.A.S. Vino.

Some estates boast century-old vines, such as Hewitson’s Mourvèdre, planted in 1853. Others, like McHenry Hohnen, helped shape Australia’s wine history by founding Cape Mentelle and Cloudy Bay.

As exclusive importers for several Australian wineries, we regularly travel to meet the winemakers, taste new vintages, and shape a shared vision of quality. These close ties allow us to offer rare wines and exclusive experiences in France, such as winemaker meet-and-greets (see our Events section).

FAQ: Australian Wine

What makes Australian wine stand out from other New World producers?

Its remarkable range of terroirs—from cool-climate elegance to bold, sun-drenched power. Australia blends modern winemaking with heritage vines, crafting wines that are both approachable and profound.

Why is Australian Shiraz so famous?

It’s the country’s flagship red. Australian Shiraz (a local name for Syrah) is known for bold black fruit, spice, and hints of chocolate or smoked meat. Barossa and McLaren Vale produce some of the most iconic versions.

What are the best Australian red wines?

Top-tier Barossa Shiraz, Margaret River Cabernet, and Tasmanian Pinot Noir are essentials. GSM blends (Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvèdre) also deliver superb complexity.

What are the best regions for white wines?

Clare and Eden Valleys for mineral-driven Rieslings. Margaret River excels in Chardonnay and Semillon–Sauvignon Blanc blends. Tasmania shines with age-worthy whites and fine sparkling wines.

Are there organic or natural wines from Australia?

Absolutely. More Australian winemakers are embracing sustainable and natural methods. Brash Higgins, L.A.S. Vino, and McHenry Hohnen are among the leaders in eco-friendly, low-intervention winemaking.

What is GSM and why is it typical of Australia?

GSM stands for Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvèdre—a blend inspired by the Southern Rhône. It’s become an Australian signature, combining old vines, warm climates, and expert blending to deliver generous, structured wines.
