Beaujolais is a wine region located just south of Burgundy. Beaujolais has a semi-continental climate that is ideal for producing new style wines. The region is particularly known for its concentration in the Gamay grape which is used to produce vibrant and fruity red wines of great purity. The highest quality wines of the region are those of the ten crus in the Beaujolais classification. You may have already tasted one of the crus if one of these names rings a bell: Brouilly, Chénas, Chiroubles, Côte de Brouilly, Fleurie, Juliénas, Morgon, Moulin-à-Vent, Régnié and Saint-Amour.
