Château la Verrerie Grand Deffand 2022

🇫🇷 AOP Luberon | Provence | France

Grand Deffand Blanc 2022 is an exceptional cuvée from Château de la Verrerie, a harmonious blend of Grenache Blanc (63%) and Roussanne (37%) from the finest plots in Luberon. Its crystalline appearance with silvery reflections reveals a complex nose where vanilla, praline and floral notes mingle. On the palate, the amplitude and generous dimension perfectly balance with a beautiful mineral freshness, offering a long and persistent finish with notes of yellow fruits and sweet spices. This great white wine, aged 7 months on fine lees in French oak barrels, will wonderfully complement a roasted veal chop with chanterelle mushrooms.

REGION

Provence

France

Provence, located in the far southeast of France, is an iconic wine region bathed in Mediterranean sunshine. Its hot, dry, and bright climate, combined with a wide variety of soils (schist, limestone, clay), makes it an ideal terroir for crafting expressive and well-balanced wines.

The undisputed star of the region is rosé, which reigns supreme: fresh, fruity, and delicate, it perfectly embodies the Provençal art of living. The Côtes de Provence appellation—the largest and most renowned in the region—spans a vast area from the Alpine foothills to the Var coastline. It is synonymous with elegant rosés featuring notes of citrus, white flowers, and red berries, highly appreciated for their freshness and finesse.

Provence also produces rich reds and subtle whites, still relatively unknown, but well worth the attention of curious wine lovers.
