DESCRIPTION
The Fantin Nodar winery is located in a unique area of the Friuli Colli Orientali appellation. It rises above terraced slopes made of "ponca", the local term for hills made of alternate layers of marl and sandstone. Malvasia Istriana has an intense and unique varietal aroma. The sweet touch of lavender is well balanced by mineral, almost briny notes. It is fantastic with fish dishes and delicate meats.

Renowned for its rich, ripe Pinot Grigio, the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region boasts over thirty grape varieties, both native and international. Emblematic varieties include Friulano, Ribolla Gialla and Malvasia Istriana, which produce dry white wines with good natural acidity, perfectly reflecting the minerality and salinity of Friulian soils. In reds, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Schioppettino offer structured, spicy wines deeply rooted in their terroir. Alongside them, international varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc have found their place and express their unique character here.
The region's geographical diversity is reflected in its wine styles: in the north, the temperate continental climate favors fresh, floral whites, while the areas closer to the sea, such as Isonzo and Carso, produce taut, saline and mineral wines, perfect for accompanying seafood, grilled fish or Slavic-inspired dishes.
Finally, Friuli is also one of the historic cradles of Prosecco, the refreshing sparkling white wine now famous the world over.
