DESCRIPTION
Jane Eyre Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2021 comes from the Syme on Yarra vineyard in Seville, located in the Upper Yarra Valley. The MV6 vines, over 20 years old and dry-grown, are planted on an east-facing slope with heavy clay subsoil and a silty-clay loam surface at an altitude of 115m. The 2021 vintage in the Yarra Valley was superb for cool-climate varieties, with well-distributed rainfall and excellent temperatures throughout the season. Vinified with 10% whole bunches in open-top wooden vats, using gentle extraction. Aged for 10 months in seasoned French oak barrels, unfined, and lightly filtered. It features 13% alcohol.
On the nose, aromas of red cherry and sliced strawberry framed by red floral notes, a hint of oak spice, and fresh forest notes. On the palate, fine and elegant, with fine-grained tannins carrying bright red cherry flavors and a slightly powdery edge. A wine with a delicate profile, crisp freshness, and a very luminous finish. Pairs with roasted duck or guinea fowl with mushrooms.
