Bas Armagnac Baron Gaston Legrand 1993

🇫🇷 Bas Armagnac | Gascogne  | France

The Story

At the heart of Bas-Armagnac, Maison Baron Gaston Legrand, founded in Lannepax over a century ago, perpetuates the art of vintage eaux-de-vie. This 1993 vintage perfectly embodies the elegance of the Gascon terroir: a spirit patiently aged in oak barrels for several decades, where time has chiseled every nuance. Today, the Lhéraud family watches over this living heritage, a symbol of rare and timeless expertise.

The Vinification

Distilled at low proof according to the traditional method, this Bas Armagnac has aged for a long time in Gascon oak barrels, whose natural porosity allows for subtle micro-oxygenation. The sandy-clay soils rich in iron oxides (sables fauves or tawny sands) confer upon this vintage its balanced structure and complex aromatic palette: walnut, prune, fern, vanilla, and spices.

The Tasting

The Bas Armagnac Baron Gaston Legrand 1993 reveals itself to be generous and elegant on the palate. Its nose offers intense aromas of dried fig, walnut, and vanilla, with delicate spicy notes. The palate is round, balanced, and warm, with supple tannins and a long and harmonious finish. Ideal to enjoy neat or to enhance in a refined cocktail.
