The Story
At the heart of Bas-Armagnac, Maison Baron Gaston Legrand, founded in Lannepax over a century ago, perpetuates the art of vintage eaux-de-vie. This 2008 vintage perfectly embodies the elegance of the Gascon terroir: a spirit patiently aged in oak barrels for several decades, where time has chiseled every nuance. Today, the Lhéraud family watches over this living heritage, a symbol of rare and timeless expertise.
The Vinification
Distilled at low temperature, this Bas Armagnac 2008 benefited from a long stay in oak barrels from the Gers region. The aging was carefully managed to exalt the freshness and aromatic vivacity of this vintage. The famous sables fauves (tawny sands) of the terroir confer structural finesse upon the eau-de-vie, allowing for a complex and elegant development of its primary aromas.
The Tasting
The Bas Armagnac Baron Gaston Legrand 2008 is distinguished by its beautiful aromatic freshness. The nose is elegant, combining classic notes of prune and walnut, enhanced by slight herbaceous touches. On the palate, it is generous and well-structured, with a harmonious balance. The finish is persistent and pleasant, revealing subtle spicy nuances. This is a vintage that will appeal to lovers of spirits with vivacity.
REGION
Gascogne
France

A very good surprise! The fresh and slightly spicy side is excellent (top). You can clearly sense the prune aromas. Excellent value for money.
