DESCRIPTION
Hewitson is not your average winemaker. Dean Hewitson, aka the ‘Mad Hatter,’ makes extraordinary wine, some from extraordinarily old vines that date back to 1853 (P.P. - pre-phylloxera). The Monopole Mother is vinified from one of these elderly vines. Its flavours and tannin profile are unbelievably unique. This Shiraz reveals notes of lavender, sage, and green peppercorn, all the while respecting its aromatic baseline of black cherry, bramble, black olive and bacon fat. This wine is a tour de force that maintains the tricky balance between intensity and delicacy. A must try with sauce-heavy dishes, rib-eye or flank steak, or a wild mushroom risotto.

The Barossa Valley is an extremely important wine-producing region within the Barossa zone of South Australia, particularly associated with powerful red wines from the red wine grape variety Shiraz. A prestigious and internationally renowned region, it is not only home to some of the oldest vineyards and wineries in Australia but produces some of its most recognizable and sought-after brands.
