Pewsey Vale The Contours Museum Release Riesling 2017 is crafted from old vines on the coolest slope of the Pewsey Vale vineyard in the Eden Valley, on shallow sandy soils with quartz and shale gravels. Fermented with wild yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Released after 7 years of bottle aging in 2024. It features 12.5% alcohol and 0.4 g/L of residual sugar.
On the nose, a pale straw color with green hues. Intense aromas of classic lemon fruit with notes of white flowers. Bottle aging characters of toast, clove oil, and lemongrass emerge and combine with fresh citrus. On the palate, great length and depth with concentrated power, pristine lime juice overlaid with toasted brioche, sage oil, and lime marmalade. Concludes with a soft and refreshing natural acidity.
Australia
Eden Valley is located in the Barossa and is recognised as one of the world’s great Riesling regions, and one of Australia’s premier cool climate wine regions. Eden Valley wines are distinctive in their character, displaying wonderful aromatics, elegance, complexity and finesse. With a wine making history dating back to 1847, Eden Valley is home to some of the world’s oldest Shiraz and Riesling vineyards. Traditional grape growing continues with a focus on sustainability, with fifth and sixth generations of the original settlers continuing to operate their family wineries.
Katja - Local Nose
Seven years in bottle and this Riesling reveals a complexity rarely achieved: toast, candied lemon, pure minerality.
